Solid, spherical cast iron balls designed to be fired from cannon (and also called ‘cannon balls’). There were many other types of shot used in the ship’s guns historically (bar shot, chain shot, grape shot etc), but round shot was by far the most common type. Round shot has been found in large quantities on the Association, Eagle and Colossus.
